The law firm of Meyer Capel, A Professional Corporation was founded
when August C. Meyer, Jr., James L. Capel, Jr. and John C. Hirschfeld
began practicing law together in the early 1960s. Their fathers had
been lawyers in the Champaign-Urbana community since the 1920s.
Over the years, Meyer Capel, has grown steadily in both size and
stature. Today, we are the largest, most diversified law firm in
Champaign County,
offering our clients a range of services and a legal presence unequaled
by any other law firm in the area.
Much of our firm's rapid growth in the last decade can be attributed
to a solid commitment to respond quickly, accurately and efficiently
to the needs and desires of our clients. Meyer Capel employs 29 attorneys, each a respected member of the legal community and
each
dedicated to providing the highest caliber of legal advice and
services. Our attorneys are active on the local, county and state
levels; three
are past presidents of the Champaign County Bar Association.

Meyer Capel believes strongly in developing expertise and teamwork. Each
attorney concentrates in one or more areas of legal practice, ranging
from domestic relations to commercial litigation. But we don't work
strictly as individuals. We work as a team, sharing ideas, opinions,
advice--all
of which are directed at a single goal: providing the best possible
legal counsel for our clients.
Whether a particular legal problem involves personal matters such as
wills, trusts, adoptions and real estate, or business concerns such

Our commitment to excellence is not, of course, limited to the attorney

Each year, for example, more than 100 law students from the University
of Illinois seek clerkships with us. Only ten are selected. Choices
are based
on the applicant's ability to provide broad-based research assistance
of the type that can be matched only by firms in the largest metropolitan
areas.
