With his proven record of athletic and academic excellence, plus solid hometown roots, Thomas C. Lockman stands uniquely qualified to address the varied needs of Meyer Capel clients.
Prior to joining the firm as a full-time associate Tom served two legal internships: with United States Magistrate Judge Donald G. Wilkerson, Southern District of Illinois and with the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office. He also was a project assistant with Sidley Austin in Chicago and a law clerk for Meyer Capel beginning in 2005.
Tom holds a juris doctorate from St. Louis University where, as a law student, he was twice singled out to receive the Academic Excellence Award for Legal Research and Writing. Born and raised in Champaign, Tom is a graduate of Champaign Central High School and attended Northwestern University on an athletic scholarship. While studying for a bachelor of arts in political science and legal studies at Northwestern, he served as the Men's Swim Team Captain and earned a Thesis of Distinction Award for his undergraduate thesis titled "The Discriminatory Use of Peremptory Strikes in Civil and Criminal Trials."
Tom is a member of the Illinois State and Champaign County Bar Associations and serves on both the Northwestern university Alumni Admission Council and Champaign County Sports Commission.
An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, he enjoys watching Northwestern University and University of Illinois athletics and continues to be involved in competetive swimming. |
