Sarah Billington concentrates her practice in the areas of business planning and transactions, estates and trusts, tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, securities, and intellectual property. She works with companies and entrepreneurs to establish new businesses, raise capital, secure and license intellectual property rights, and negotiate the acquisition and sale of businesses through asset and stock transactions. She works with individuals and families to develop comprehensive estate plans that meet her clients’ goals and desires. Sarah assists clients through the estate and trust administration process, including with the preparation of federal and state estate tax returns.
Before she attended law school, Sarah worked as an estate planning paralegal in Colorado for five years, where she worked with high-net-worth individuals and families to establish comprehensive estate plans, including business succession planning.

Education
Sarah holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado. Sarah received her J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude, Order of the Coif. While in law school, Sarah was the recipient of the J. Nelson Young Award, a merit-based scholarship awarded for excellence in the study of tax law. At the College of Law, Sarah earned six CALI awards, which honor the student receiving the highest grade in a course. A skilled legal writer, during her first year of law school, Sarah received the Neal Gerber Eisenberg Award for Best Brief in her section. Sarah was also the recipient of a Rickert Award for Excellence in Academics, which is awarded to students in the top 5% of their class at the College of Law.
Personal Interests
Sarah enjoys spending time with her fiancé, Greg, and their dog, Bindi. Originally from Colorado, Sarah loves the outdoors. You can find her running throughout Champaign County, hiking, camping, and fishing in her spare time.
