Former Associate Judge Anna Benjamin Returns to Meyer Capel
CHAMPAIGN – Meyer Capel, one of the largest and most diversified law firms in Central Illinois, is pleased to announce that Anna M. Benjamin has returned to the firm as a shareholder and member of its litigation team, where she will focus her practice on family law and complex civil disputes. She has over 17 years of experience serving as both a trial lawyer and an Associate Judge, offering clients a perspective shaped by time on the bench and in private practice.
Before rejoining Meyer Capel, Anna served for more than eight years as an Associate Judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Champaign County, presiding over a broad range of civil matters, including family law, juvenile and guardianship cases, estate litigation, administrative review, municipal court matters, and election disputes. Her firsthand knowledge of courtroom decision making enables her to assess risk, develop efficient litigation strategies, and advocate effectively for her clients.
Prior to her judicial appointment, Anna practiced family law and civil litigation at Meyer Capel as a shareholder, representing clients in both trial and appellate courts. She also served as a court appointed mediator and guardian ad litem, experience that continues to inform her strategic approach to resolving disputes.
In addition to her practice, Anna has remained deeply engaged in professional and civic service. She has served on multiple Illinois Supreme Court committees, including as Vice-Chair of the Guardian ad Litem Education Committee, and has held leadership roles with the Illinois Judges Association and the Illinois Judges Foundation. She is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Section Council and the Champaign County Bar Association.
