Randy Green is a shareholder in Meyer Capel’s Business and Real Estate Practice Groups. His unique experience allows him to serve not only as legal counsel, but as a trusted business advisor to his clients. He prides himself on providing value to his clients and practical experience to his students as an adjunct law professor on topics of negotiation.

Experience

Mr. Green has represented both public and private companies ranging from Fortune 100 companies to single-member LLCs in a variety of transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, private equity and venture capital investments, secured financing, entity formation, franchising, and leasing. He regularly advises businesses, investors and founders in all stages of a company’s lifecycle, from initial incorporation and financing, to strategic relationships and transactions, to devising and executing exit and succession strategies.

He has also helped organizational and individual clients sell, purchase and lease residential, commercial and agricultural real estate locally and throughout the U.S., including providing counsel to clients in connection with transactions exceeding $1 Billion in U.S. real estate assets, and involving both multi-state portfolios and single asset transactions.

Before he began his legal career, Mr. Green worked in the finance industry where he gained experience in investment services, commercial lending and mortgage lending.

Education

Mr. Green earned his J.D. and MBA degrees from Marquette University and has an undergraduate degree in business finance from Illinois Wesleyan University. While in law school, he won the award for the best appellate brief in the National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, which was published in the Pace Environmental Law Review. Mr. Green also competed in the ABA Negotiation Competition while in law school and teaches on topics of negotiation and serves as a volunteer Judge for the ABA Negotiation Competition at the University of Illinois College of Law.

Mr. Green is licensed to practice in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Community and Civic Engagement

Mr. Green has been deeply involved in the community during his tenure at Meyer Capel, having served as the Chairman of board of directors of the United Way of Champaign County and Family Service of Champaign County. He has also served as board president of the Emerging Community Leaders division of the United Way of Champaign County, and C-U Kiwanis Little League Baseball.

Personal Interests

Randy and his wife Theresa live in Champaign and enjoy spending time with family, friends, their daughter Adelyn and their son Rowen. Randy also enjoys the thrill of competition, competing in obstacle course races and various team and individual sports, including ping pong, golf, and softball.

Awards and Recognition

Mr. Green has been named to Central Illinois Business Magazine’s 40 under 40, and has repeatedly been selected by Super Lawyers as an Illinois Rising Star, an honor bestowed on less than 2.5% of attorneys in the State.
