A lifelong member of the Champaign-Urbana community, Carter Billingsley joined Meyer Capel as an associate attorney in September 2021. He concentrates in Estate Planning, Tax Planning, and Business Planning and Transactions.

Carter takes pride in collaborating with clients to establish a desirable, clear, and comprehensive estate plan that is integrated with any necessary business succession planning, regardless of the complexity of his client's situation.

Education

Carter graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2021 and holds a B.S. in Biology Education from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale. In addition to clerking at Meyer Capel for the entirety of his law school career, Carter was the recipient of the Meyer Capel Scholarship, awarded to a law student with a demonstrable interest in serving the Champaign Urbana community. Carter was also active outside the classroom and was named champion of the 2020 ABA Client Counseling Competition.

Community and Civic Engagement

Carter is a member of the Champaign Rotary Club.

Personal Interests

Carter and his fiancé live with their dog Teddy in Champaign. Away from the practice of law, Carter enjoys reading, gardening, and playing the saxophone. Carter is also an avid outdoorsman, and can often be found roaming one of the many state parks in Central Illinois with Teddy in tow.
