Nathan B. Hinch joined Meyer Capel as a shareholder in 2021, after more than 10 years in private practice with the law firm Mueller, Reece & Hinch, LLC. Mr. Hinch helps clients with wills, trusts, probate, guardianships, and other estate planning or administration matters, and with legal issues facing businesses and non-profits, real estate transactions, construction and agricultural law issues, and civil litigation in those areas. He also serves as an administrative hearing officer for the Town of Normal, Illinois in adjudication proceedings for municipal ordinance violations.

Education

Mr. Hinch is licensed to practice law in Illinois by the Illinois Supreme Court (2007) and is admitted to the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois (2011). He holds a J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law with a Certificate in the Program in Environmental and Energy Law (2007) and a B.A. in Economics, cum laude, from Wheaton College (IL) (2000).

Community and Civic Engagement

He currently serves on the board of governors of the McLean County Bar Association and has previously served as its Secretary and as chairperson of its Hon. Robert C. Underwood Professionalism Committee and its Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee. Mr. Hinch has also previously served as council member and CLE chair for the Construction Law Section of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and is a member of several other ISBA sections. Also with ISBA, Mr. Hinch serves on a committee that has prepared proposed amendments for legislation regarding estate planning and real estate. He currently serves as a board member of the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, and is a member of the American Bar Association, and the Peoria County Bar Association. Nathan is a Paul Harris Fellow and has served as a board member of Bloomington Club of Rotary International and its Foundation, and is a Fellow with the Illinois Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation.

Mr. Hinch also served as the 2020 president of the board of directors for the McLean County Chamber of Commerce. He remains on the board as its “immediate past president.” Nathan also serves on the foundation board/philanthropy council for BroMenn and Eureka Medical Centers, currently affiliated with Carle Health System. He previously chaired this board while the hospitals were part of the Advocate Health Care System, and served on the governing board of BroMenn Hospital at that time, and under Carle Health System he now also serves as a Member of the Carle Foundation. He has also previously served on the Board of Directors for the Parklands Foundation, a nature conservancy with holdings of more than 1,500 acres in McLean and Woodford Counties, and as chairman of the board of elders for his local church. He volunteers pro bono work and has helped with fundraising support for a variety of charitable organizations in McLean County, most recently including Prairie State Legal Services, the Immigration Project, Lawyers for the Creative Arts, the Boy Scouts of America, and the Boys and Girls Club.

He lives in Bloomington, Illinois with his wife Sarah and their three children.
