Rochelle A. Funderburg brings extensive knowledge of labor and employment issues and wide-ranging litigation experience to the practice of law at Meyer Capel. A former assistant city attorney and practicing lawyer for more than 35 years, Ms. Funderburg has handled a variety of cases – from inception through trial and appeal, representing insurance carriers, employers, employees, and various local governmental bodies.

Ms. Funderburg received her bachelor of science and juris doctorate degrees from the University of Illinois, where she also earned the Charles E. Merriam Scholarship. Following completion of her formal legal studies in 1981, Ms. Funderburg joined Coles County, Illinois-based law firm Craig & Craig as an associate; she was named a partner of the firm in 1988. From 1988-96, Ms. Funderburg served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Champaign and has in-depth knowledge of municipal law. She joined Meyer Capel as an associate in 1996 and was named a shareholder in 1999.

A member of the Coles County Business and Professional Women from 1981-85, Ms. Funderburg received that organization's Young Career Woman Award in 1984. She has also served as a member of the Coles County Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Coles County and Jefferson County Bar Associations, the Mt. Vernon Junior Women's Club, and the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana. A member of the Champaign County Bar Association since 1988, she served on the Association's Board of Governors in 1995. She formerly served on the Board of Trustees for the Champaign Public Library, is a former President of the Champaign County Humane Society, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Idea Store.

Away from the practice of law, Ms. Funderburg enjoys reading, traveling, antiquing, and gardening and is a volunteer for not-for-profit organizations in her community.
